Fleece sample testing

Hi All

I need to get some fleece samples tested this year, have never done it before, can anyone tell where I can send it for testing.

Many thanks

Hi Ginnie,

The easiest option is to send them to the Wool Testing Authority Europe based in Wales, however they are not the cheapest but if you don't have lots that isn't such a problem (I have to say nearly all the alpacas we have bought from big breeders as well as small have fleece stats from them). I think that I am going to try SGS in New Zealand this year (but send some duplicates to Wales to compare). Another option is Yocom-McColl. I am sure everyone will have different preferences.

Hi Barbara,

Thats a great help, I have not done it before and really want to get the babies I have bred done to see how we are doing with our breeding plan.

Thanks again

Hi Ginnie,
We have used Yocom-McColl in the past - always quick with the results but thought I might try the Australian testers who are coming to the UK as in the BAS e mail this time.
