I am horrified - Eating Alpaca!!

Purely by accident I came across this article in Stoud News & Journal Local Company given a licence to Sell Alpaca Meat!! I am absolutely horrified!!

How could any alpaca breeder say there alpacas is not suitable for breeding and sell them to be slaughtered and sold for eating!!

One of the main reasons I went into breeding alpacas was the fact I didnt need to breed for slaughter!!

We couldn't agree more. The thought of Alpaca in the food chain is quite repulsive to us!!

I also agree....the thought of this market...really upsets me !....I hope that this fad dies out...unfortunately there will always be some people who will eat anything !........Jayne

Oh no, not another one. I won't be happening to any of our alpacas that's for sure.

Over here in France, we are often asked what alpaca tastes like...my reply is always the same "Disgusting!" If we all tell folks it's tough, it tastes horrible ans well as being expensive...we'll undermine any market there might be!!

I too hate the thought but then horse meat seems just as repulsive...but over here you now rarely see it in the supermarkets so tastes change!

Yes, unfortunately it is for sale in Cumbria too...thankfully those who have tried it are rather put off when they see the alpaca in the paddock, where it should be...an unpleasant gimmick to draw trade I believe.
